6月5日 What side of the fence are you on?Should we have a legal language or shouldn't we? The question was asked of Hillary Clinton the other night during that long boring debate with the host of presidential candidates. Her answer was in the middle of the fence. "If we have a legal language then we wouldn't be able to print government documents in different languages". WTF!! I asked myself as I pondered her answer. Then I thought back to when I was in Jr high. I had a Girlfriend who's brother was born in Germany while his day was in the military over there. Since most small posts don't have the facilities to handle births your only option is to drive or have the baby in a German hospital. And just like the US children born in the country have automatic citizenship. So he was actually a German citizen. Even though both his parent are American born. Well when he was in Jr high he had to take the naturalization test to actually become an American citizen and the test included a section "English competency".
So my question is this if you have to take a test to become a citizen and the you have to be competent in speaking and writing English. Why do we have government documents in other languages? like the Drive test you can take it in any language, but all the signs are in English. How's that work for passing the test?
Well what do you think? Legalize the language or not? 引用通告此日志的引用通告 URL 是: http://cmilesjr.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!CBEA001E50D17833!169.trak 引用此项的网络日志
